- 27.04.2009 - 12.07.2009
- Where:
- The National Gallery - Westminster
- Category:
- Galleries/Art Exhibitions
Description
The National Gallery’s Take One Picture scheme invites primary schools throughout the UK to use a painting from the Gallery’s collection as a stimulus for learning across the curriculum. Hundreds of schools respond to the challenge, many of which submit work to the annual exhibition.
The display at the National Gallery demonstrates the innovative ways in which schools have responded to this year’s focus painting, J. M. W. Turner’s 'The Fighting Temeraire tugged to her Last Berth to be broken up, 1838'.
The painting depicts the final journey of HMS Temeraire, which fought valiantly in Lord Nelson’s fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.Venue
