Description
Aprons & floral frocks at the ready for Lewisham's Kitchiest Country Fayre: A rural retro treat
Sunday 14 September (12-6pm) FREE
Lewisham kitschiest country fayre is back for its second successful year on Sunday 14 September at the award-winning Cornmill Gardens opposite Lewisham’s DLR and train station.
The free retro-kitschtastic Fayre will include floral frocks, prize jams, London's meatiest sausages and the best of Lewisham’s home grown talent. With Chas ‘n’ Dave leading the knees up, the Fayre promises to be a fun and funny (and free) day out as well providing a quirky celebration of Lewisham's rural history. The setting, in the multi-award winning Cornmill Gardens, will offer locals and visitors a treat of open green spaces, revived railway arches and a stroll by the River Ravensbourne. Just like the old days.
Country Fayre highlights will include a host of retro rural entertainment – from Chas ‘n’ Dave, to the best of Lewisham’s local talent, a fine food market with local fayre and a childrens' farm.
The Fayre is also rousing local yokels to test their talents on a whole range of horticultural, craft and cookery competitions. Anyone with green fingers or artistic talents is invited to showcase their creative skills. Non-specialist, light-hearted categories include: best knitted item, best photograph of rural Lewisham, funniest shaped vegetables and the yummiest jam and cakes.
Events on the day include:
Performance by legendary duo Chas ‘n’ Dave, tinkling the ivories for a grand old London knees up – with support from Dan Ogus, the Becks Marshall Band, PJ Wright and Guy Fletcher.
A vintage fair – affordable treasures from yesteryear!
Exclusive limited-edition sausages from Lewisham's renowned 'Sausage Man'. The super meaty ‘Lewisham Banger’ will boast more meat per bite than any other!
The Hoola Extravaganza! Hip-twirling hoola performances and workshop by Hoop Lala as seen on this years Britain’s Got Talent!
The “Lewisham’s Got Talent” Top 10 finalists - the best that Lewisham has to offer including Aaron Augustus and Victor Elliot.
Seedy Sunday - Lewisham’s first seed-swapping event – ‘growing' in popularity every year!
Dr Bike - free bike check ups, advice and ‘Pimp your Bike’ competition.
