Description

DOUBLE RAINBOW
CLAPTON FOX
ROCOCO FAIR
THE POWER OF VOODOO are twins Mikey and Rob and bassist James, or 'Wolfman' as he is better known to his peers were pretty much jumping on the stage and raring to get going. When asked to describe their sound they admitted with no bashfulness that it was pop/rock and that they were proud of it. 'Sometimes you've just got to love catchy choruses and cheesy tunes' said guitarist Rob. The band are no strangers to the big occasion either. Mikey frequently plays trumpet for the group Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly another band from their hometown of Southend. They are really something to give a serious listen to. They may be the new face of the British Indie style, but a face nonetheless. And with Lions roaring into action with filthy guitar riffs and some fantastic close harmony, they were enough to make their other contemporaries like the Fratellis and the Arctic Monkeys look positively like Pussycats. So if like me you're still lamenting the loss of bands like Reuben, Million dead, Yourcodenameis:milo and Capdown then have a listen to Lions. Already a class outfit in their early days their songs are so catchy, you'll sing, you'll jump and maybe when they are playing the big arenas get punched in the face by some guy who literally cannot help himself.
