Title:
Poetry and Stillness for Heart and Soul
When:
10.02.2010 19.00 h - 21.30 h
Where:
Newington Green Unitarian Church - Hackney
Category:
New Age/Self-Help/Spiritual

Description

Poetry has a remarkable ability to reach deeply within us. Where other words communicate thoughts and ideas, poetry seemingly bypasses the intellect to convey feelings and insights directly from one heart to another. Come to this weekly Wednesday evening event to experience stillness, music, and poetry.

Poetry readings are interspersed with meditative music and a period of silent meditation. You are welcome to offer readings that you bring with you or from the poetry that is provided at the event. Come just for the time of music, silence, and shared readings (19.00-19.45), or stay for a more intimate time of closer reflection on the poems (20.30-21.30). A light vegetarian supper is provided in between. A selection of readings is provided, but feel free to bring your own. Unitarians emerged from non-conformist Christianity to become one of the most inclusive religious groups today, encompassing many different beliefs, faith traditions, and perspectives in its congregations. The people and words you encounter will reflect this generous diversity.

Price: £2 donation for supper
