Title:
The Ethics of Reproduction
When:
24.02.2010 18.30 h
Where:
Museum of London - City of London
Category:
Lectures

Description

Speaker(s): Baroness Deech of Cumnor DBE,  Professor Rayna Rapp

From cloning and embryo research, to multiple births and the taking of sperm from dead husbands - the field of reproductive technologies is always going to be notoriously difficult. When controversial scientific advances and inflexible moral ideals meet, we are going to be confronted by some very hard questions to answer.

The differing treatment of these issues in the UK and the US offers us a cross-cultural perspective that can help us come to a better understanding of the root of the problems, the principles of further advances and where the possible solutions might lie.

This joint event between Gresham College and New York University in London offers a unique opportunity to hear experts from both sides of the Atlantic joining forces to confront these difficult questions.

Part of the Gresham College series of lectures.
