Inspired by The Surreal House exhibition in the Barbican Art Gallery, Barbican Weekender rounds off our packed summer season with two days of music, film, theatre, dance, visual art and spoken word.

You’re invited over to our place for a summer party, so grab a group of mates and head down for some upside down, back to front fun.

Providing the soundtrack to the weekend are our favourite World in Motion drummers, who return to show case their skills with funk hip-hop band Lazy Habits and Sci-fi cartoon jazz quartet London Snorkelling Team and when you’re feeling peckish, grab a bite from the food stalls in the centre and at the Whitecross Street Party.

Just for families, our special events include Lone Twin’s Beastie and Family Film Club will be screening Toy Story 3, where toys come alive in this alternate surreal tale.

Don’t rush home in the evening, stay late and enjoy free entertainment on our Foyers or book tickets for the hip-hop dance premiere of Boy Blue Entertainment’s Over The Edge in the Theatre, Brazilian samba and morna from the Cape Verdean diva Mayra Andrade plus sweet-voiced Indigenous Australian singer Gurrummul.
