We brave the elements once again for Watch This Space, the National’s free festival of al fresco performance. Join us on the Astroturf in Theatre Square for a rich variety of theatre, circus, dance, music, family events and exhilarating world class entertainment. The giant playful installation, ‘Armchair Theatre’, will be back for your comfort, providing you with the best seats in (or outside) the house to watch the summer unfold in Theatre Square.

Week one kicks off with Circus Space – one of the UK’s top circus schools and a training ground for some of the brightest talent of tomorrow. The graduating class of 2009 take up residency in Theatre Square for the week, building up to their final performance as a group, demonstrating many diverse circus skills. Their ensemble show, Say What You Like, directed by Heidi Rustgaard, promises to be a feast for the senses.

They’ll be rehearsing in the Square throughout each day and performing short extracts, ahead of the big show on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon. During the day on Saturday, visitors have a chance to meet the performers and their tutors, try out some simple circus skills, and find out what it takes to run away and join the Circus Space! www.thecircusspace.co.uk
