We brave the elements once again for Watch This Space, the National’s free festival of al fresco performance. Join us on the Astroturf in Theatre Square for a rich variety of theatre, circus, dance, music, family events and exhilarating world class entertainment. The giant playful installation, ‘Armchair Theatre’, will be back for your comfort, providing you with the best seats in (or outside) the house to watch the summer unfold in Theatre Square.

Week two features an exciting week of aerial activity, led by Artistic Director of Upswing, Vicki Amedume. Loved Up is a lively expression of youthful romance on bungees, with a heavy breakdance influence. There will be open floor sessions for anyone to show off their skills, as well as Upswing Hotshots, new pieces by a variety of aerial artists. There is also the chance to learn some flying skills and bungee techniques with workshops for young people, for breakdancers and for the over 50s.
